Calvert previously expressed his concerns regarding the Riverside Transmission Reliability Project to the California Public Utilities Commission. Lives are on the line.' I believe it's time for the proponents of the Riverside Transmission Reliability Project to come to the same conclusion." Just last week, PG&E announced it would underground 10,000 miles of transmission line and stated ‘it's too expensive not to underground. The lines would also increase wildfire risks, and their associated threat to human life as well as property and environmental damage. The above ground transmission lines would negatively affect Norco, the Santa Ana River corridor, and the Hidden Valley Wildlife Area by degrading recreation, natural resources, aesthetics, and property values. "It's especially galling that Norco would suffer these impacts for a project that provides zero benefit to its residents or businesses. "Norco residents are rightfully concerned about the many negative impacts the Riverside Transmission Reliability Project would have upon their community," said Calvert. Today, Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-42) joined together with Norco Mayor Kevin Bash and the entire Norco City Council in sending a letter to the city of Riverside and Southern California Edison expressing their ongoing concerns regarding the Riverside Transmission Reliability Project. ![]()
